Transferring Content Between Squarespace Websites with Squarespace Website Tools Pro

Why You Need the Squarespace Website Tools Pro

If you’re in the business of creating Squarespace websites, or you’ve built several sites, you’ve probably yearned for a simpler way to transfer styles and content from one website to another.

This need becomes increasingly apparent when you must rebuild similar layouts or painstakingly recreate exact styles across different websites.

Enter the Squarespace Website Tools Pro, a game-changing extension that enables you to do just this. The magic lies in its ability to transfer a panel from an existing Squarespace 7.1 website into a new Squarespace 7.1 website, a virtually impossible task until now.

This tool does come with a cost, but for regular builders of Squarespace websites, this extension is well worth the investment. It saves countless hours you would otherwise spend manually copying and transferring content, not to mention it offers several other features that enhance Squarespace website creation.

For instance, in a future tutorial, we’ll explore how you can migrate an entire website from version seven to 7.1. This consolidation of products, courses, and learning experiences into one platform epitomises the kind of efficiency and convenience that Squarespace Website Tools Pro brings.

How to Use the Squarespace Website Tools Pro for rapid content transfer:
A Step-by-Step Guide

To illustrate how you can leverage this tool, let’s walk through a step-by-step guide on transferring content from one site to another. This process involves moving sections from the PixelHaste store page into a new page in Pixelhaze Academy.

1. Once you have enabled the chrome extension, you will need to login into Google Account. To do this expand the Squarespace tools pull-out drawer (bottom-right). This action is necessary to enable all features on the Squarespace Website Tools Pro extension.

2. Refresh Your Browser: Once logged in, refresh your browser to activate the extension.

3. Create a New Page: On your new site (in our case, the Pixelhaze Academy), create a blank page where you’ll transfer the content.

4. Start Copying Sections: Now, head over to your original site (in our example, the PixelHaste store page). Without going into edit mode, use the extension to copy sections of content one at a time.

5. Paste Sections into New Page: Return to your new site and insert each copied section above or below your blank section in the new page. Remember to keep the blank section in place as it acts as an anchor on your page.

6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5: Continue copying and pasting sections until all your desired content has been transferred.

7. Clean Up: After transferring all sections, you can delete the blank section on your new site. Next, check all of the links in each section and ensure there are 301 redirects in place (if required) so that Google knows your content has moved to a new page or site.

8. Tidy Up Styling and Layout: Finally, adjust any styling inconsistencies and match the site widths so that your content fits snugly on your new site.

This process marks a significant milestone in Squarespace website creation for those of us who are using the platform on a daily basis, allowing you to transfer large chunks of content from an existing Squarespace 7.1 site to a new one swiftly and efficiently. The Squarespace Website Tools Pro affords you more time to focus on other aspects of your site, making it a worthy addition to your web-building toolbox.
